synopsis
In this film, set in the 1940s during a drought in the Brazilian sertao, ranch hand Manuel kills his boss after the man tries to cheat him out of his earnings. Now outlaws, Manuel and his wife join up with a self-proclaimed saint who condones violence and preaches disturbing doctrines.
