Louisa (Mell) is a young, independent woman trying to make something of her life in the Italian capital when she is methodically lured into a life of prostitution. When Louisa rejects the advances of a poetry writing doctor (Farley Granger) in favor of another handsome suitor, she falls prey to a vicious blackmailer with an appetite for killing.
