Synopsis by Mark Deming
Led by guitarist and songwriter Chuck Schuldiner, Death was one of the one of the truly groundbreaking bands on the American underground metal scene, launching the nascent grindcore and death metal scenes and blazing new trails with each new album before Schuldiner's death in 2001 put the group to a close. Death: Live in L.A. (Death & Raw) documents the band's final lineup on-stage as they were touring in support of the album The Sound of Perseverance. Songs include "Spirit Crusher," "Flesh and the Power It Holds," "Together as One," "Pull the Plug," "Scavenger of Human Sorrow," and more.
