After a rural early childhood during which she was regularly beaten by her father, and found comfort only with the horses on her family's farm, Nell Tiscowitz is understandably obsessed with horses. For a good part of her teen years, she seems convinced that she is a horse, which she somehow manages to pull off while attending school and getting to know her fellow students. During this time, she also meets with psychiatrists. Eventually, she simply becomes a horse-crazy young woman, who keeps the seats of her VW filled with apples and attempts to earn her living any way she can. One day, her junky car collides with an ultra stylish Lamborghini, the sort of super-expensive car that costs the price of a nice house in a big city. It is being driven by a brash, confident young film producer who is out visiting his horse stud farm investment. The quirky girl's unexpected ways quickly get under the skin of the citified theatrical gent, shaking him out of his blithe confidence directly into a state of romantic ardor.
