Mid-twentieth century-era folk musician Dave Van Ronk not only stood along Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul, and Mary as one of the most respected musicians of his era, but also played a key role in the blues and ragtime revival of the era and in bringing folk music to a larger audience than ever. A forerunner to the "New City Blues" movement and a noted proponent of the fingerstyle method, the charismatic Van Ronk is featured weaving some of his most memorable tales and playing such classic tunes as "God Bless the Child," "He Was a Friend of Mine," and "Song to a Seagull" in a 1980 concert that shows just why this beloved musician was respected by his peers and adored by his fans.
