A young professor with a history of nonconformity whilst relating to his peers and supervisors takes great personal and professional pains to assist one of his students during a time of need in Vietnamese director Vuong Duc's 2002 drama Cua Roi (Missing Object). Hanoi resident and math instructor Duong Thang (Duc Khue) has just secured a new post at the Economics Institute after losing his job at the university as a result of a run-in with his former boss, an egomaniac by the name of Dao. Greatly influenced by his free-thinking grandfather, Duong goes on a morality crusade upon learning that one of his students has become pregnant by declaring the child his own so that the young woman can avoid expulsion. Missing Object was selected for inclusion in the 2003 Berlin International Film Festival.
