Synopsis by Alice Duncan

On D-Day (June 6th, 1944), Allied troops crossed the English Channel and stormed the French coast at Normandy. The invasion had been under preparation for a year and was the largest amphibious assault in history, involving 5,000 ships, 1,200 warships, and 13,000 planes. 90,000 U.S., British, Canadian, and Free French troops landed on the beaches, and another 20,000 arrived by parachute or glider. The battle led to the German army's surrender of occupied Paris and the Allies' eventual defeat of the Nazis. This is volume four of the Crusade in Europe series, based on a book with the same title by General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
