synopsis
The French Most Dangerous Sin was originally titled Crime and Punishment, but its name was changed for its American release to avoid confusion with 1959's Crime and Punishment USA. As can be gathered, the French picture was the latest cinematic version of the oft-filmed Dostoyefsky novel. Bernard Blier stars as the misguided college student who believes himself "above the law", and commits murder to prove his theory. Jean Gabin costars as the kindly police detective who slowly but surely brings Blier to justice. This time around, Crime and Punishment as been updated and set in Paris.
