Competing with co-worker Ivan (Dominic Taylor) for alpha-male brownie points, Patrick (Ben Miles) decides he needs to have a beautiful wife on par with Ivan's -- at least for the night. Sally (Kate Isitt) is the first to be drafted into the role, but ultimately it's Susan (Sarah Alexander) who has to pretend. Unfortunately, it's the exact same night Steve (Jack Davenport) has decided to propose to Susan (Sarah Alexander), which makes it a bit awkward for her to keep up Patrick's ruse. Meanwhile, Jane (Gina Bellman) experiences an awkward situation of her own when she mistakes a dinner-party invitation for a one-on-one date and shows up in a scandalous getup to what turns out to be a room full of people.
