Based on the same universe as Harlock Saga and Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Cosmo Warrior Zero finds Earth in the early stages of recovery after a menacing race of mechanical creatures called the Machine Men invaded Earth and waged a war that lasted years. Reluctantly accepting defeat, a captain named Warrius Zero has lost his family and his will to fight as he begins his life of servitude within the ranks of the Machine Men, but it would appear that his and humanity's fight is not over. He receives an order from his alien superiors to traverse the depths of space and bring back the infamous Captain Harlock, but the armistice between the Machine Men and Earth -- both at home and aboard his ship -- may not be what it seems.
