Convicted (1931)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

Silent screen femme fatale Aileen Pringle is guilty of quite a bit of overacting in this low-budget but adequately mounted mystery melodrama. Pringle, whose career was decidedly on the wane by 1931, was not alone. Everyone in the picture seems to be behaving slightly over the top, and the blame probably rested with director Christy Cabanne, who was having a tough time handling sound. Happily, Cabanne keeps the pace moving, and Convicted remains a pleasant enough hour or so, with an especially engaging performance by the veteran Harry Myers as a rather inebriated suspect. The name of the murder victim, incidentally, is Tony Blair!
