Synopsis by Mark Deming
In this animated comedy-drama from filmmaker Florence Miailhe, seven strangers interact in a tumbledown urban neighborhood near a river. Over the course of an ordinary day, a circus sets up camp, dogs wander the streets, lovers meet and part, a bridge slowly takes shape, and people come and go along the bustling streets. It's not until the end of the day that dramatic events conspire to bring the people together and make them work together to help others in need. Conte de Quartier received a special citation as Best Short Film at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
