This six-part PBS series was an outgrowth of the Peabody Award-winning documentary Playing on the Edge. The program concentrated on the highly talented -- and fiercely competitive -- finalists in the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Orchestra conductor James Conlon was on hand to discuss the performers and their musical selections. In most parts of the United States, Concerto debuted on October 16, 2002.
