CNN Millennium, Part 1: Century of the Sword - The Eleventh Century is the first of ten videos in CNN's Perspectives series. The series aired on CNN on Sundays in 1999, in celebration of the year 2000. This video describes the 11th century, including the ancient civilizations of China, Spain, India, Japan, and Jerusalem, and their cultural development. The video describes Islam's influential spread to Spain, Japan's isolationism, India's shining power of knowledge and spirituality, and the massive migration of Jews to Jerusalem. The series uses re-enactments and computer-generated graphic animation to further illustrate the lush history. Narration is provided by Academy Award-winning actor Ben Kingsley.
