Synopsis by Hal Erickson
It sounds like a Disney film, but Clarence and Angel is actually a slice-of-life independent effort filmed in New York. Clarence (Darren Brown) is a withdrawn South Carolina youth who can neither read nor write. Angel (Mark Cardova) is a street-smart Manhattan kid who takes a liking to the hapless Clarence. In teaching Clarence how to read, wise-guy Angel learns quite a lot on his own. Though nearly impossible to find on the mainstream video-rental circuit, Clarence and Angel is well worth the effort.
