Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

The Civil War remains the bloodiest war in the history of the United States, as the North and South of the land engaged in a pitched battle over ideas and territory. Economics and slavery were two of those issues that rent the fabric of a nation and turned brother against brother. This series chronicles some of the key moments in the war's four-year progression. Nowhere was the fighting more fierce than at Gettysburg, where the South won an important strategic and psychological victory. Reenactments, artwork, and scholarly commentary tell the story of the military achievements at Gettysburg.
