Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This program presents the innovative circus troupe Cirque du Soleil in a live performance. The Canadian circus company rose to fame in the 1980s with their unique amalgamation of traditional circus acts and street theater. Drawing on their experience as street performers in Quebec, the company put together a show featuring "baroques" in surrealistic costumes depicting circus animals. This performance features staples of their act with jugglers, aerial artists, humorists, and strong men, against a dazzling backdrop of lights, surreal sets, and rock music.
