Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A decade after Belgrade went through its first stage of transition, filmmakers Vassil Zhivkov and Ivan Cherkelov emerge with six stories designed to reflect the current state of mind in their home country. Linked together by an enormous pine tree that is harvested at the onset of the film and shipped to Belgrade to be erected at the capitol, each story explores the contemporary lives of the common people while also hearkening back to the ancient stories of Greece and Socrates. Confronted by their mortality and the meaning of life in such uncertain times, numerous people from a wide variety of backgrounds all attempt to make sense of their lives. From the pregnant teenager to the suicidal man, the Gypsy family, and the birthday celebration in a remote mountain house, life plays out all across the country as the majestic tree travels ever closer to its intended destination.
