The holiday-themed performance release Christmas in Rome finds two choral-instrumental ensembles - The Gabrieli Concert & Players under the baton of Paul McCreesh, and The English Concert & Choir under the baton of Peter Hanson, with accompaniment by soloist Trevor Pinnock - performing a series of classical Christmas works by such composers as Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti and Arcangelo Corelli. The concert was mounted and filmed at the Church of the Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome; the performers featured herein play on the traditional period instruments used when the original works were composed.
