Synopsis by Nathan Southern
In this acclaimed court-métrage -- an Oscar winner for Best Live Action Short in 1965 -- a French boy develops a strong bond with a rooster that his parents are planning to cook for dinner. To avert this crisis, he tries to convince his parents that the rooster is actually a hen, and leaves an egg beside it every day at the table to prove this. Director Claude Berri later went on to direct such acclaimed features as The Two of Us, and produced projects including Jean de Florette and Germinal.
