Synopsis by Mark Deming
One of the many tragic long-term after-effects of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster of 1986 is a condition known as "Chernobyl Heart," a weakening of the circulatory system which has impacted a large number of children who've grown up near the damaged facility. Chernobyl Heart is a short documentary which offers a look at the children and families who are facing this dangerous disease, as well as explores how the spread of radioactivity has brought the malady through the health and social service programs of the former Soviet Union.
