Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In the very first episode of Cheers, Diane (Shelley Long) took a job at the titular drinking establishment after being jilted by her fiancé, Prof. Sumner Sloane (Michael McGuire). Now Sloane is back, determined to win Diane away from Sam (Ted Danson). Despite Diane's assurances that Sloane means nothing to her, Sam is determined to come up to the professor's intellectual level -- by taking a crash course in Tolstoy's War and Peace.
