Synopsis by Hal Erickson
One hardly needs a crash course in French to realize that the title of this comedy translates as The Regiment's Champion. The film is essentially a vehicle for comic actor Bach, here cast as a bumbling village priest. After falling in a river, Bach dons a soldier's coat while he waits for his own hassock to dry. Sure enough, our hero is mistaken for a soldier and ordered to "return" to the local barracks. Undergoing a great deal of difficulty adjusting to military life, Bach becomes the hero of the regiment by winning a crucial boxing match. Josette Day, later a popular French leading lady, made one of her earliest screen appearances in Champion du Regiment.
