Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Madeline Grey (Anna Q. Nilsson) is wintering at a tropical resort, as is wealthy idler Walter Maxwell (William Conklin). When she is suddenly called home to San Francisco, she has to board a ship run by a brutal captain, Bucko McAllister (Hobart Bosworth). Maxwell, too, comes along. McAllister unsuccessfully tries to force his attentions on the pretty, virtuous Madeline, but slowly he comes to respect her. When one of the crew sets fire to the ship, McAllister, his men and his two passengers wind up on a desert island. Once again McAllister takes charge of things, but after trouble with the natives, which results in weakling Maxwell's death, he undergoes a transformation of character and Madeline falls in love with him. She decides to stay with the former brute on the island. If this tale seems to have some manly, Jack London-type elements, it should come as no surprise that the original story was written by London's wife, Charmian K. London.
