Filmmaker Linda Bloodworth-Thomason explores the injustices endured by same-sex couples through the case of Shane Crone, a man who was barred from attending the funeral of his committed partner Tom by Tom's disapproving family, and who had no legal recourse due to the marriage laws in America. Inspired by Shane's soul-baring video "It Could Happen to You," which has been viewed more than four million times on YouTube, the director aims to put a personal spin on a public debate that has become increasingly politicized while awaiting a Supreme Court ruling.
