Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Assembled by the same production crew responsible for the documentary series Hopkins 24/7, the weekly ABC cinéma vérité exercise Boston 24/7 focused upon three to four ordinary heroes from the Massachusetts metropolis on each episode. Emphasis was placed upon those people performing public service beyond the call of duty: doctors, teachers, lawyers, firefighters, and the like. Generous air time was also afforded Boston's feisty mayor Thomas Menino, who apparently did not object to being shown as obstinate and obstructive at times. Filmed over a three-month period and broadcast in six hour-long installments, Boston 24/7 premiered on June 4, 2002.
