Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Monte Carlo Madness is the English-language version of the German musical comedy Bomben auf Monte Carlo. Hans Alberts plays Erickson, a naval officer for a mythical European country, who refuses to follow orders until he and his crew are given their back pay. Docking in Monte Carlo, Erickson discovers that Queen Yola (Sari Matizka), his country's ruler, is squandering the national budget at the gaming tables. Immediately attracted to Yola, who offers to hock her jewels to pay his crew's salary, the captain joins her in a game of roulette, instantly losing all his money and hers. In a last-ditch effort to earn what's coming to him, Erickson aims his ship's guns at the casino, threatening to blow up the place if the proprietors don't give him his money back. When his bluff fails, Queen Yola, re-assuming her regal duties, orders him to sail home. Rather than admit defeat, Erickson jumps overboard, whereupon Yola jumps in after him. At last realizing that he's hopelessly in love with Yola, Erickson blissfully surrenders to her charms.
