Local political candidate Elizabeth Roth is campaigning door-to-door, and Margaret takes a shine to her policies -- for more articulate reasons than Elizabeth herself can offer. Margaret starts to provide invaluable help for Elizabeth's campaign, but on the night of the candidates' debate it's discovered that Elizabeth is a not-so-recovered alcoholic. With Elizabeth unable to go on-stage, Margaret nervously takes her place as candidate, with Bob declaring himself her campaign manager and almost immediately getting them involved with some questionable supporters.
