This lightweight, independently made drama was scripted by screenwriter Willard Mack and actor Lou Tellegen. When Elizabeth and Pierre Monnier (Claire McDowell and Joseph Swickard) divorce, they each take one child. Maurie (played as a grown up by Walter McGrail) goes to Paris with his father and studies art, while Henry stays in New York with his mother. Maurie marries Clarice (Ora Carew), who runs off with another man. When his father dies, Maurie returns to New York, but is virtually ignored by his mother, who is only concerned with Henry's social successes. Depressed, Maurie resolves to kill himself, but in the park he meets Hope Martin (Leatrice Joy), a model who convinces him to live. He winds up sculpting a statue of her, called Blind Youth, which brings him fame and fortune. Clarice hears of his success and comes to New York. Henry, without realizing who she is, falls in love with Clarice. Maurie finds out about the affair, and tries to warn his brother away from Clarice, but his interference only serves to make Henry mad. Maurie is forced to admit to Hope that he and Clarice are still married. Clarice, however, confesses she was married before she met Maurie (that was the man she ran away with), and she only married Maurie because she had thought her first husband dead. Thus, Maurie's marriage to Clarice is not binding, and he is free to be with Hope.
