Bert Lytell plays a man falsely convicted of murder in this Metro-produced mystery. His character, Hugh Overton, was the victim of circumstantial evidence -- the charred body of corrupt financier Matthew Latrone (Joseph Kilgour) was supposedly found with Overton's tie clip nearby. That, along with a negative remark Overton made about Latrone, sent him up. But Overton has escaped from jail to clear his name. While traveling on the Twentieth Century Limited, Overton encounters a blind lawyer, Basil Santoine (Frank Currier), his daughter, Harriet (Naomi Childers), who serves as his "eyes," and his secretary. Donald Avery (Morris J. Foster). Avery is in league with Latrone, who is still alive, and his task is to make sure that Overton never reaches his destination. But Avery muffs the job by almost murdering Santoine instead. Santoine, believing that Overton is guilty of the attempt on his life, invites him into his own home, the better to have him watched. Overton goes, believing that the lawyer has some papers that will clear him. In the midst of all this, he and Harriet fall in love, and together they foil Latrone and clear Overton's name.
