When one looks at the people involved with this film, it's difficult to understand exactly what they could have been thinking when they made it: Stanley Donen, Larry Gelbart, Valerie Harper, Michael Caine...well, okay, Michael Caine. The story concerns two middle-aged men who take their teenaged daughters to Rio on vacation. Upon arrival, Victor Lyons (Joseph Bologna) goes cruising for women, and Matthew Hollis (Michael Caine) tries without success to fight off the advances of his friend's beautiful daughter (Michelle Johnson). The film's one-liners are painfully unfunny, but even if the jokes were better, the general atmosphere of pedophilia is not really conducive to laughter. It may say something about the quality of the film that although Caine has appeared in dozens of bad movies, this is the only one where he actually appears to be embarrassed.
