synopsis
The culture of the Lakota Sioux nation living under the shadow of Bear Butte Mountain in the Black Hills of western South Dakota is the focus of this sometimes slow-paced documentary. Alongside the interesting interviews with Sioux elders are side trips to nearby tourist spots that include Mt. Rushmore. In contrast to the struggles of the Sioux to protect their heritage and gain a living is the USAF base on Bear Butte Mountain and the echoes of broken promises to the Native Americans.
