Biography: Marquis de Sade - The Depraved Aristocrat is an A&E biographical portrait of French author, theorist, and nobleman Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade (1740-1814). The program takes an in-depth look at de Sade's notorious writings on sexual deviancy within the context of societal norms. It looks closely at his 27-year period of incarceration, during which time he was most prolific. The program also features an interview with a de Sade descendant.
