An incorrigible young woman from an Indian-American family falls for a handsome guy from Sweden, and rebels against the mother's attempts to lock her into an arranged marriage. Beena is a modern woman with big plans for the future, but her parents are still tied to tradition. Some days, the only thing that keeps Beena sane is the fact that her Caucasian friend Mary Jane is a good listener who doesn't cast judgment. When Beena meets a handsome Swede named James Dean, she's convinced she's found the man she will be with forever. But Beena's mother has other plans; she's arranged for her daughter to wed Bubba, and even paid to have him come to America. With her future happiness hanging in the balance, the forward-thinking girl must now choose between sticking with tradition, and following her heart.
