Keita Aono doesn't have much excitement in his life. Beating his latest video-game score and passing his next math test are his highest priorities, and Keita wishes something interesting would happen. Soon, however, he'll learn to be careful what he wishes for. The Algernon virus has wrecked havoc in an underground amusement park, sparking the beginning of a reign of terror. Keita's friend Hinoki seems to know something about the Algernon virus, and two of the biggest corporations on Earth are using their newly developed enhanced weapons to rally their powers against it. Keita has just joined the ranks of his fellow fighters. He's ready to handle the giant mech that could be part of humanity's salvation, but he can't help wondering about a mysterious mutant called "Betterman," who some say is more powerful than any weapon in the world.
