Philosopher and philanthropist Jean Vanier is the focus of this documentary, which aired as part of the Hallmark Channel's "Faith and Values" series in the spring of 2003. Belonging: The Search for Acceptance explores Vanier's theories in-depth, including his assertion that a person's need to belong to a social group is a more universal need than even love. To that end, he's organized a group called The Ark that specifically targets handicapped persons to see that they find a nurturing environment far from the pressures of "abled" society.
