Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Utilizing high-tech hidden-camera technology, the VH1 documentary series Being not only whisked the viewers behind the scenes with their favorite pop singers, but also permitted them to see what life would actually be like as those singers. Each episode was told from the subject's point-of-view, with the camera often functioning as the "eyes" of the singer in question. On the opener, fans were given a taste of what everyday life was like for Latino singing sensation Shakira; later episodes afforded the same up-close-and-personal treatment to Jewel and Nelly Furtado. Being made its cable-TV debut on March 4, 2002.
