Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Originally titled Beg, Borrow and B.S., this weekly, hour-long series bore the distinction of being the first "reality" series offered by the ESPN cable network. Each episode featured two coed teams of contestants, who attempted to travel cross-country from Times Square to Alcatraz with only the clothes on their backs and the barest minimum of financial resources. Along the way, the contestants were required to participate in grueling and sometimes bizarre games and contests with professional athletes. The challenges posed on Beg, Borrow and Deal ranged from catching a pass thrown by an NFL quarterback to winning a prison basketball game. The series debuted September 17, 2002.
