Tanaka Yukio, usually known by the nickname Koyuki, is a 14-year-old kid who feels like he's on the outside of life. He does poorly in school, is picked on by bullies, doesn't make many friends, and seeks solace in the ultra-happy J-Pop music that he goes home every day and listens to. Then one day, he saves a mutt dog and his life changes forever. This chance encounter causes him to meet Minami Ryuusuke, the guitarist for a new band called Beck. Now, Koyuki has the chance to use his fantastic singing voice for the up-and-coming rock band and get a chance to see what life looks like from the inside, a perspective he just might like.
