Diane Israel is a former world-class triathlete-turned-psychotherapist who abandoned her career in sports after fighting a monumental struggle against anorexia, and in this documentary Isreal examines the potentially devastating results of living in a culture where abnormal beauty standards are the norm by relaying her own compelling story and interviewing the athletes, body builders, fashion models, and teens whose lives are affected by these unrealistic standards on a daily basis. Sometimes funny but always heartfelt and deeply personal, Carle Precht and Kathleen Man's documentary also details the stories of athletic luminaries David Scott, Ellen Hart Pena, and Brenda Maller in addition to featuring commentary by cultural critic Naomi Wolf, author Paul Campos, and playwright Eve Ensler.
