Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

A certain discussion starter, this documentary chronicles an internal struggle that during the mid '80s threatened to shatter the unity of the Southern Baptist Convention. The battle lines were apparently drawn for political reasons by ultra-right wing conservatives who seek to use the Bible to promote intolerance and a "groupthink" mentality that is foreign to the Southern Baptist church, the most popular Protestant denomination in the United States. The film attempts to trace the beginnings of the conservative movement and also offers grim speculation upon its current and long-ranging effects.
