A young woman is sentenced to prison for poisoning the wife of a man she had hoped to marry in this plodding melodrama. The victim was a member of the underground who worked to bring about her country's independence from Britain. The murderous murderess endures the horrors of prison life as she pines away for her freedom and her love for a young doctor.
