Synopsis by Brian Whitener

Known primarily as a painter, this 1972 video performance finds John Baldessari singing lines from Sol LeWitt's famous conceptual art manifesto. An interesting piece primarily because it establishes the range of video work being done on the West Coast at the time. Of note as well is Baldessari's ironic commentary on the video community's utopian hope for a mass audience.
