German Valdes stars in the Mexican musical Ay Que Bonitas Piernas. Starting out as a nobody, Valdes is promoted to superstardom by a savvy agent. From this point on, the film adheres to the venerable Hollywood formula, including pretty girls, a swelled heads, duplicitous producers, a fall from grace and a triumphant comeback. The musical highlights are as enjoyable to watch as they apparently were to perform. Chances are you'll be able to catch Ay Que Bonitas Piernas one one of the many Spanish-language cable outlets-or if not, you might see another of the German Valdes films like Viva Chihuahua (1947).
