synopsis
This video, part of the Awesome children's video series, takes kids through the history of the American space program. The video begins at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for a tour of the history of space flight. Children will look at various spaceships from worldwide space programs, including the first space capsule, the rocket that took the first men to the moon, a replica of a space shuttle, and a replica of the space station "Skylab." This video also has film footage of space flights, from the early years of space exploration to present times, helping kids to get an idea of what it feels like to fly through space.
