Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Ruth (Shirley Mason) has spent her whole life on an island with her father (Joseph Burke), who has been searching for buried treasure. Winthrop (George Forth), a wealthy society man, happens on the island while sailing and is taken with the girl. He promises to return for her, but he leaves, never to come back. When Ruth's father falls over a cliff, Dr. Strong (Donald Hall) comes to his aid but can't save his life. Ruth, who has found a pair of trunks in a cave, believes that she has come across the treasure her father was looking for. She intends to use this fortune to go to the city and work on her voice, but the doctor discovers that the chests contain only damp gunpowder. He has fallen in love with Ruth, however, so he secretly funds her trek. In the city, Ruth finds success and once again meets up with Winthrop, who turns out to be worthless and fickle. So she returns to the island, and to Dr. Strong.
