Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Adapted from a true story, director and writer Lutz Konermann has put together this tale about Albert Aufdermauer (Klaus Abramowsky), a man who cooperated in a robbery attempt and injured the victim, who later died. Because of the death, Albert was charged with murder. While in prison, he is mistreated by his fellow inmates and the ensuing trouble causes his sentence to be extended without parole until an ambitious reporter gets him released into his custody for one day -- after 30 years in prison. Instead of sticking to the 24-hour time limit imposed on him, the quiet and intelligent Albert decides to opt for a whole week and runs away from the reporter. This film chronicles his adventures during that week, and how he finally plans to turn himself back in -- but therein lies an unexpected twist.
