Synopsis by Robert Firsching

This film about the days of amateur soccer in Greece was the debut of one of the country's most talented directors, Vassilis Georgiades. The film chronicles the personal lives of several players en route to an important match, including Yiannis Petropoulos's romantic adventures, Yiannis Poulis's family problems, and the team's attempts to get an expelled player (Kostas Mantazolis) reinstated by the commission. The film climaxes (as all sports films must) with the big match itself, and even those who find soccer as exciting as watching grass grow are likely to be stirred by Georgiades's presentation of the emotional victory. Nina Sgouridou and Theodoros Moridis head the cast.
