Synopsis by Hal Erickson

As God Made Her was based on a standard-issue "never the classes shall meet" novel by Helen Prothero Lewis. Mary Odette plays the working-class heroine, who falls in love with young aristocrat Henry Victor. Their subsequent marriage sends shock waves throughout blue-blood circles. Victor's mother (Lola Cornero) spends the balance of the film trying to convince Odette to give up Victor to allow him to marry one of his own social strata. Leading lady Mary Odette, who did a nice job playing one of the British "lower orders", was actually born in France; leading man Henry Victor was the same fellow who, in 1932, played the brutish circus strongman in Freaks. As God Made Her was lensed in Holland, for no discernible reason other than to take advantage of the scenery.
