Synopsis by Michael Hastings

This documentary chronicles the immigration of Koreans to the United States, a movement which began in earnest in 1900 when thousands of Koreans left their homeland to work on Hawaii's sugar plantations. Soon after, political upheaval drove others to follow suit, and in the 1970s, the U.S. saw its greatest influx of Koreans ever. Arirang: The Korean American Journey interviews scores of immigrants as it charts the changes in Korean-American culture over the years.
